The Roman's were very inventive in the design of their jewelry. But they borrowed from Greek themes. Palmettos, fleeing dogs and acanthus leaves, all Greek origin, were often seen from the design of Roman jewelry.

Stones and glass were often utilized in Roman bracelets. . Gem stones have been commonly seen set in eyes. Open rings were trimmed to represent a row of ivy and entwined with pearls.

Many of the leaf and berry bracelets were greatly adorned with decorative glass. The wealthier girls could be seen sporting bracelets styled in bezel set emeralds.
